Sadie Losell (RIP) 1992-2009
Hello dear friends,
Some of you may have been aware that our lovely cat Sadie was not well these last fews months. Initially we thought it was bad tooth decay but eventually a Vet confirmed that she had a very large tumor, growing under her chin. Due to her old age (80 in human years) it was determined that she was too old for surgery or a biopsy and that not much could be done for her. Lucy and I did everything we could, giving her two courses of antibiotics and filling her with love and tuna, to ease the pain and help her quality of life. Sadly, as the tumor grew, Sadie lost her ability to eat and drink and despite being incredibly social and fighting hard, we determined it was time for her to go. She was not in distress and went peacefully yesterday, Valentines Day at 12:47pm in the care of a local vet.
Below are some pictures of her over the last few years. She was a wonderful friend and companion. I'm glad she had the chance to meet jonah and she loved him to bits. I would describe Sadie as a real character, fiercely independent but very affectionate, fickle but funny, always up for a picture and very social. Sadie had a lust for life, was kind to her brother Bumper and went out of her way to be gentle to Jonah. She was my first cat and purred by my side through many ups and downs. She will be forever missed and never forgotten.
Sadie is in a better place now and will be a welcomed addition to the great choir invisible. No doubt Bumper was there with his wise old face, scanning for her arrival at the big gate in the sky, waiting to walk with her to the catnip fields.
May you rest in peace sweet Sadie cat.

This one is for Geela
This is just a very quick little post to brighten up the day of a few certain special ladies. Last time Nana ventured north to Pangnirtung, she was able to get me an original Inuit style parka made by the very talented and wonderful Geela Maniapik, my honorary Inuit Grandmother. Although it took my Dad along time to get me to put the thing on without freaking out and rest long enough for the picture, it was definitely worth the wait. The parka doesn't quite fit me yet but at the rate I'm growing, I imagine it will be snug just in time for spring.
Thanks again Geela, xoxox

The February Blahs turns to Ahhh!
Greetings Snow People,
Well February the Cruel is here, the dreaded month of snow, slush and salt and more snow. It is also the time of seasonal depression, empty bank accounts, colds, sniffles and wanting to stay in bed ALL day!
Our dear family has not been immune to the many viruses lurking about. Between Sadie and her gum decay, Ma and Pa with their colds and me with a cough, our house has been TYLENOL central. We remain however, steadfast and sporting immune building tinctures, knowing that these sinus conditions too shall clear.
In an effort to keep up moral both Mom and Dad have taken up full-time hobbies. Mom is doing a sewing class and putting her new machine to good use while Dad is busy teaching himself how to play the guitar. Meanwhile, I'm keeping up with my reading, learning new words and playing with my CHOO-CHOO train.

SOME UPDATES
TWO TEETH LEFT?
I know I've been going on and on about my horrible teething but it looks like I'm in the home stretch with only two more to go! If you count two back from your top teeth, it those buggers that are coming in. It's been sheer hell and I'm not sure why it's taking so long but I suppose it's just the way the tooth breaks through! I really hope that I have them all just in time for my birthday.
Everybody is MAMA
So this is kinda funny. As you all know, I'm really getting very comfortable talking and learning new words. One of my very first words was MAMA. Now it seems that MAMA is my catch all phrase. Dad finds this hilarious and even when reminded who he is, I just like to call him MAMA too.
And speaking of yo MAMA
Last weekend, Nana Emily came to stay over for a visit. It was great as always to see her and hang out although I was still a bit sick. We were goofing around with the camera and she caught this really nice picture of both of us!

24 Days and counting...
So by the end of the month, I will be shedding the baby act and entering into full on toddlerhood. We haven't got the invites out yet but Mom and Dad vow to send them out this weekend. Again it will be on Saturday, Feb.28th at our house from 4-6pm. It's an open house and there will be light refreshments and a mini-jam session.
Hope to see you then :)
Peace and warmth to you all
Jonah

Star Child
Hello folks,
This is spaceman djangy sending you galactic vibes from the third rock from the sun. I realize I've been a bit distant lately floating out in the universe but I'm back and have lots of news and updates to share with you all so let's get started.
Winter Wonderland?
Hope your staying warm and not getting too upset by the harsh January weather. As some of you know, Toronto and Ontario in general has been hit hard by arctic like temperatures and lots of snow. It's certainly added an extra challenge for all of us. Since we live on a main road, we often wake up to the sound of snow removal machines as they pile the slush and ice in our walkway. Pushing the stroller back and forth from Daycare has become my parent's version of the 20 min workout.
Oh NO!
I've reported on this before but I'm truly on the brink of full-fledged verbosity and talking. With each day, Mom and Dad claim that I get more and more expressive with my sounds, gestures and body language. Two of my best sayings are, OH NO! and MORE . I'm also getting good at calling out MAMA and DADA when in need of something and BYE when I get tucked in at night. I also know an array of words like CAR, BOAT, KITTY, SPOON and I'm beginning to mimic or repeat words I've only just heard. Just last night I proclaimed, JEOPARDY, while watching the famous game show before bed. Sure it sounded more like JEH-O-DEE but you get the idea.
2yrs old on the horizon
So at the end of February, the coldest and most unforgiving of months, I will be turning two years young. It's hard to believe that it's almost here and what an amazing journey it's been so far. As expected, we will be having a get-together and open house with live guitar and sing-songs and Mom's special wheat & gluten free cake.
I hope that all our friends in Toronto can come out and celebrate with our family! More details will be e-mailed to all of you in the coming weeks but mark the Saturday February 28th on your calenders, you don't want to miss it!
And last but not least...
FYI -Thanks to Mom & Dad's continued nursing and gentle force feeding of antibiotics, Sadie has made a remarkable recovery, is no longer sleeping in the basement and is eating lots of food again. She's not out of the woods yet but with another round of pills and if she continues to eat like she has been, we are confident that she will not have to use one of her nine lives. We still have no idea if it's a dental issue or a mystery lump. The vets have not been helpful. We'll update you if any news surfaces.
Well that is all the news that is fit to print in my little corner of the universe.
Take Care loves, see you in cyberspace!

Holiday Post - Happy New Year
Hi everyone,
First off I want to wish all of my friends and family a very happy New Year! I also want to take a moment to thank the W's for hosting a sleep over, ensuring both our families cheerfully rang in 2009 with good food in our bellies and warmth and friendship in our hearts.
Our family had a most lovely holiday this year. Thankfully, we were all in good health and spirits. Nana came and spent the night and we had a lovely tree decorated with paper cranes and little toys and lights with plenty of presents for all. Christmas Day we opened up everything in about 15 mins and it was great fun. I got lots of 'Hot Wheels' cars and books. I also got an art easel for drawing and painting. As you can see from the pictures below, I'm quite the budding artist working in the paint and chalk mediums.
Unfortunately, we really didn't get any decent pictures of me opening gifts or us all going to Christmas dinner at Craig and Donna's house with all my relatives. I suppose that Mom, Dad and I preferred to just be in the moment and didn't bother with getting the camera out. I can assure you that we all had the best holiday as a family. Did I mention too that Mom got a new sewing machine and Dad a music stand for his guitar playing? Creativity, music and arts & crafts will dominate our household in 2009.
Anyway, we are all looking forward to this new year and all the adventures it will bring. The most important of course being my 2nd birthday on February 28th! Looking forward to seeing some of you at my party.
Take care everyone :)
