Pinery Camping Trip 2009: Part Two

The Pinery is such as nice place to take your friends or family.

Joe and I loved exploring the sand dunes and playing on the beach...

Here we are doing our best 'Charlie's Angels' Pose

The view was spectacular!

And then we found this old abandoned surf board...

The sunset was beyond words!

...time to head back to camp.

The Pinery Camping Trip 2009

On the first week of August, three grown adults and two toddler-wilda-beasts attempted to do the impossible. They stuffed themselves and enough provisions for a month into a rented KIA Sportage and set forth on a road trip to Grand Band, Ontario, Canada's surf capitol. Armed with a two day pass they made there way to Pinery provincial park known for it's amazing sand dunes and beautiful vista on the mighty shores of Lake Huron.

It took nearly three hours to drive to Grand Bend from Toronto and Dad got lost at one point. Google Maps are not always accurate!

The picture was taken after sitting in the car for three hours. We practiced catching flies in our mouths on the nearby dune ;)

Lucky for us the weather was dry and hot and remained that way for the entire trip.

It had taken us much longer to get their than we had expected but we were all safe and sound. The whole point was that we made it. Mom was awesome at organizing and making sure we had the right provisions. Jules was amazing at keeping us kids entertained in the car and Dad was the master driver.

So we quickly set up camp and tried not to be two tents about things...

You couldn't tell from this lovely picture above but at one point while setting up her shelter, Jules nearly had a tent pole take out her eye! Her quick reflexes saved the day and she walked away with only a small scratch.

Once things settled down, Joe and I chilled out in the tent reading Ben 10 Comics while the parents set up the food and the rest of the gear. An amazing thing happened. Silence. Waves. What we came for was solace.

What we got was crazy trampoline performers on the inflatable mattress!

Of course the parents were not too happy about all this mischief. It was certainly a challenge to keep the peace and general order. We even had an anonymous camper leave a note at our site basically telling us to keep our voices down. The, "shouting" and "screaming at the kids " was apparently disturbing our neighbors.

We were a bit surprised by the note. It certainly was a quiet camp site but we had a big sized lot. I guess we were all just having fun, isn't that what camping is about?

A voice is liable to get raised. When a tree falls when your camping, everybody hears. The irony of having so much outdoor space yet having to talk with our 'inside' voices was not lost on us. It became our little joke.

Anyway, after dinner just as the sun was setting we built a glorious fire and had hot chocolate.

To be continued....

Welcome Yasmine : )

Hey everyone,

So the magical visitor tour continues. Jules and Joe got off safely last Sunday, after a long delay at Pearson and are now safe and sound in Brighton. I really miss them a whole lot and still can't wrap my head around where they went. I keep going to the basement but they are not there. I miss having a buddy to play with but at least I finally learned how to brush my teeth!

I can't thank Joe and Jules enough for their kinship and love and simply can't wait to see them again, hopefully on their home turf in the UK.

So in other news, Cousin Yasmine from Israel is now with us for the next three weeks.

At posting time, Dad didn't have a pic of Yas and I to put up here but we promise to post some in the coming days. We are still sifting through the photos from the triple 'J' experience and will share that stuff with you as soon as we can.

Day Out at Toronto Island

Last weekend, Mommy, Juliet, Joe and I went on a trip to the Toronto Island. The strike had ended but Ferry service was not yet restored so we took a water taxi to Centre Island. We went to the far enough farm, rented a special four person cycle and went to the beach on Lake Ontario.

Here are just a few pictures from that day:

Here we are on the playground slide with Mommy/Auntie Lucy...

This giant Muskoka chair was pretty cool!

Garcons du plage avec Lake Ontario...

J+J Visit: Week One

I'm sorry for not posting more but I have been kept rather busy playing host and I'm not on the computer much these days. As you know some of my family are visiting and my cousin and I have been playing like mad and causing all sorts of mischief. It's been good, clean, exhausting fun and I just love having Joe and Jules here with us. I'm posting some pics just to give you a taste of what we got up to in the first week.

Here we are jamming at the Losell Reunion in Stoney Creek, Ontario...

Two toddlers + Outdoor fun = Bath time at Coxwell

More Scooter Madness. Check out my moves...

We have also gone to visit our great Cousins in Woodbridge, been on long bike rides and scooter/wagon trips to various East York Parks. We have also spent some time at the local library and small world cafe on the rainy days. Joe and I like to play with cars, trucks and Ben 10. Daddy/Uncle Darcy set up the wadding pool and sand pit. We have gone for ice cream and been just generally enjoying ourselves.

There are tons of pictures and video to go through.

We'll keep posting when we can!

Jonah :)
