Little Drummer Boy

As mentioned in my previous post, we decided to have a modest Christmas this year. However, some cool stuff did show up in the mail and I had presents to open...

Mom helped me unwrap my gift from Uncle Lee and Aunt Jen but I got scared by the sound of the paper being torn. However, once it was over I was very excited by the noise makers they sent. Thanks so much you two.

I also want to thank the 'W' Clan for the lovely toy and clothes. Auntie Jo also sent me a very neat winter hat. Thanks Jo! I hope all of you out there had a lovely, safe and healthy holiday with your loved ones.

So I bet your all wondering where the vacation pics are. Once again, I must apologize as Mom is slightly dragging her feet on this. So, over the weekend Dad is going to sit her down and get her to select a dozen or so of the best pics. He'll then post them for me from work, where it is faster to do so. Look out for the pics in the New Year.

Post-Christmas Post

Hello Friends and family,

We the Frankelsell's of Frankdale hope you and yours had a most lovely holiday break, be it Eid, Chanukah, Kwanza, Christmas, X-mas or Ho-Ho-Ho-Hold the Payments Day!

Sadly, our family time off did not go according to plan. Being my first Christmas, Mom and Dad wanted to do something special for me. However, Santa or St. Nick or whomever brings the gifts brought a big lump of coal in the form of a wicked 48hr stomach flu that hit all three of us, at different times and to varying degrees. I won't go into any details but it essentially made the time off less then ideal and certainly took us all by surprise. The upside of course, is that we spent the miserable time TOGETHER and managed to watch some DVD's in the process, since lying supine on the couch was about all we could get up to. it was a truly spartan affair, with few consumer goods but a bounty of presents not found in stores, the gift of each other.

But alas, the New Year is upon us and I'm looking forward to the great things 2008 will bring for all of us. I'll ask Dad to post some photo's tomorrow since he's at work right now. Mom is getting ready to drag me to the shopping malls for some Boxing Week madness so please send help!

Take Care all...love jonah :)

'Twas the week before...

So as you all know, it is less then a week before the big holiday with the gifts and the debt and the man in the red suit. Being my first Christmas, Mom and Dad have elected to stay at home this year. We all plan to cozy up with some good food and DVD's and very minimal gifts. We hope that everyone understands our absence from any family functions this year. Since Dad has been working such crazy hours, we really need some solid family time together.

This week has also seen me take some big steps forward in the mobility and sleep department. I am officially crawling properly now. Mom noticed that it started to connect for me last week but waited to make sure I was being consistant. Although it appears that I have a little hobble, the swimming around on my stomach is so last month. My teething situation is also out of control and it's made me more irritable and I'm drooling all the time. When will the teeth come?

I'm also really bonding with our cat, Sadie. She is a source of constant delight and facination to me and doesn't seem to mind the fact that I chase her around the house, trying to eat her tail. I also have my own version of petting which involves taking clumps of hair from her back. Again, she seems to bask in the glow of my attention none the less.

Well I hope that all of you out there are winding down at work, finishing up all that last minute shopping and looking forward to a break. Check back here next week where I will post some pics from our festive family times and the much awaited pics from my trip to Isreal/England.

Djangy as 'Relic'

For those of you who are Canadian and fans of my blog, you may get a kick out of this posting. My Mom recently knit me a new hat for the holidays. When it was done, I put it on and Dad took some pictures. During the shoot, he couldn't stop laughing at me and claimed that I reminded him a little of Relic from the old CBC show, The Beachcombers. Mom and I were like, Relic? Jose? So I looked it up on the W.W.W and to my surprise...

So here I am in my new toque

And here is Robert Clothier as the beloved 'Relic'

You be the judge. Obviously I'm cuter.

Fun with 'Google' Images

It has been a fairly quiet week in Django-land. The only real 'news' to report is my moving into a new sleep cycle. Now, I don't wish to 'jinx' the situation but I've had almost a week of consistant sleep where I only get up once during the night to feed. This of course is a welcome change for all involved. Other then that, things are very quiet. We are trying to avoid the X-mas stress and are looking forward to a family break in a few weeks.

No one has really taken any new pics of me this week and I am still waiting for Mom to sort through our vacation photo's. She assures me that we will 'debut' them on the blog over the Holiday break, when we have more time. SO to fill the gap, i decided to 'google' my name and here is what came up.

A cool looking poster for a long lost Spaghetti Western,

The obligatory Jonah and the Whale motif,

A cool pick of my 'middle' namesake, Gypsy jazz wunderkin Django Reinhardt,

And I love this one, again a biblical reference with a slight twist,

Sorry there are no new pics of me but don't worry, I'll post some over the weekend. Stay warm and safe out there and enjoy all that last minute holiday shopping!

Tough Travellers Pt.2

Here is a shot of Dad and I ready for a trek in the great outdoors

:) Jonah

Let it snow, etc

I'm not sure what the weather is like where you are but baby it's cold outside. We have had lots of snow, wind chill factors and below freezing temperatures, a proper introduction to the chilly season ahead. Although it is warming up a bit this week ( global warming I presume?) I have taken great precautions and have all the right gear necessary for a proper Canadian winter.

Here is a picture of me with all my gear on waiting to go outside in my chariot

And here I am in my Valco chariot ready to take on the ice glazed sidewalks and snow drifts

Hope you are all inside safe and warm

Splish Splash

Here is a funny little picture of me taken yesterday. This one goes out to Auntie Jules who gave Mama this funky little splash-guard bath hat for me to use. I predict this will be the hot new look for Summer 2008.

Tah-dah!

That's what I'm talking about!

Stand (in the place where you live)

Just thought that some of you out there might want to see a Dad's eye view of my stand-up routine

It takes some effort...

but I'm getting better at it everyday.

9 Months Young Today

Please join in the chorus to cheer for our 'sprout' who is 9 months young today. As corny as it all sounds, it seems like only yesterday that we had a tiny, helpless little person in our midst...

...who has blossomed into a very bright, inquisitive and highly curious fellow with an amazing sense of humour and zest for life!

Join us in celebrating his health and good fortune today. We know that we speak for all your fans when we say that we cherish and adore you Mr. Jonah Django. Here's to many more happy days ahead.

Love Always,
Mom and Dad

New Heights

In previous posts, I have mentioned that I'm quite the mobile guy. I've been 'dragging' myself around the house for weeks as oppossed to 'crawling' and I have this new structure that keeps me safe and limits my exploration. I am permitted when Mom and Dad are watching to 'swiffer' around the house and here is a funny shot of me at the kitchen gate where I generally end up. Notice my shirt and how I look like a little doggy in a cage.

The latest and most exciting development is that I am now officially able to get myself to a standing position in the gated community. It happened for the first time yesterday and here is the picture to prove it.

So Mom's prediction was right. I've skipped the crawling stage, although I can sort of crawl when I can get traction but I've graduated to 'cruising' and walking is not that far behind. So look out world, djangy is a man on the move!

Busy Boy

Tomorrow marks my nine month anniversary on the palnet. This past month has proven to be the most dramatic in terms of changes happening to both myself and Mom and Dad. For one, we are all adjusting to a new routine with Dad back to full time work. It's a bit tough on us cause he works late hours but Mom and I are happy that he is happy with the position and finally making us some dosh again. Also, Mom and I are trying to stay fit and active, continuing to see our Mom & Babe friends and having regular get-togethers with the pre-natal group. (Pics to follow)Mom also had a job interview and is contemplating the end of her maternity leave with some reservations. But all these changes aside, we are a joyous and productive family unit and thank our lucky stars everyday.

Updates aside, here is a goofy picture entitled, "Double Trouble"

Here is a slightly candid photo of my friend Zane and I

And here is a hilarious photo of me on the subway, cozy as a bug in my tough trekker

Look out for tomorrows post to ring in my 9th month!

My Baby's got 'Saucer

The other day, Mom brought home this funny contraption that she found by the curb. It's called an 'EXER-SAUCER' but I call it extra-boring. Had it shown up a few months ago, I would have embraced it fully and perhaps played all day. But now with my new found mobility, it's not where I am at. I'm clearly too old for this contraption. I sort of just stand around in it and look, well I guess you could say I look extra-saucy. Hee hee.

Freedom is just another word for...

Hi ya everyone,

So here I am, chewing on my maraca and hanging out in my gated city. The truth is, I'm getting more and more curious by the day and everything is moving so fast. I'm more active, more mobile, more hungry, more tired. As much as I appreciate Mom and Dad wanting me to be safe from harm, I can't help but long to break free and move around our humble, dusty flat.

This picture here speaks for itself. I often find myself pleading to be let out. Sometimes I stand up on my legs and shake the gated walls!

It's all about freedom, my children. We must escape the plastic planet.

Basket Case

As I recently published, I'm in the process of breaking out of my 'panopticon' and fleeing for the border from some retail therapy. This picture was taken after Mom caught me in the act of escaping the house using the old 'hide in the laundry basket trick'.

Seperated at birth?

Everyone knows Bam-Bam Flintstone

But have you met Bam-Bam Losell?

It's uncanny.

Gated Community

Hey Everybody,

As you probably know by now, life here at Che Frankelsell is never boring. Take for instance the recent addition of the long overdue 'security gates' which now adorn our living room. Oh baby, how I love to be placed in my holding pen, I mean play pen to spend quality time by myself building character and deconstructing various toys. This 'gated community' as mom calls it, can be used in a variety of configurations and takes up half of the living room. Dad thinks it looks like some sort of plastic baby prison especially when put into the 'pentagon' formation.

In this picture you can't tell that I've been in 'lock-down' all day can you? But rest assured, I've been taking notes from the underground and I'll keep you posted on my plans for the great escape.

Yo Waz UP

Hey funky cats. Check out my new lid. Mom found me this cap in the Value Village. That's right boyeeee, I'm fresh!

Social Butterflies

On Friday, Nigiuq Emily came to my house for a slumber party/sleep over. We played and laughed and cuddled and ate lots of food. The following day, my great Aunt Alice and my honorary Aunt Jane came over for a tea and social visit. We ate and laughed and played some more. Here are some pictures of me and the lovely ladies.

Happy 8th Month in Django-land

How could we forget? As of yesterday our little guy turned 8 months young and is slowly climbing the charts to number 1.

This shot was taken at 8 weeks...

This one was taken yesterday...

Thanks for bringing us so many happy days jonah. We love you ya little rascal!

Mom and Dad

You've got to learn how to crawl...before you learn to fly

Hi again,

As you can see, I'm trying with all my strength to crawl...

Apparently my version is called yoga...

What is this thing called the sun salutation anyway?

Party time

Hi again,

It's been a busy couple of weeks around Casa Frankelsell. As I continue to make progress on all fronts, Mom and Dad can barely keep up with me. I am fully mobile and continue to 'drag' myself around the house like a gurgling swiffer. Dad predicts that I'll be crawling by the end of next month. Mom reckons I may by-pass the crawling stage all together as I'm also showing the early signs of 'cruising'.

Two weekends ago, my dear friend Sarita had a tea party to celebrate her upcoming birthday. I want to wish her a belated happy 4th year (as I forgot to call her on the special day ). The pictures below are from the tea party. The W's were most gracious hosts and Mom and Dad helped out with the day by putting together a puppet show.

This is the audience...

Here is the amazing playhouse and stage with the puppets Toby, Rusty and Claire Crocodile doing their thing

I also managed to get in some driving around the yard

Thanks again W's for an awesome day!

JD :)
