Pisces Astrology for Jonah

The ruler of Pisces is Neptune. Its symbol represents a pair of sea horses or sea lions yoked together. They dwell in the innermost regions of the sea, which is symbolic of life after death or regeneration. The image also represents a duality, the struggle of the spiritual soul within the physical body. In Pisces, these two natures are joined, yet very much separate.

Pisces are . . . is a difficult sentence to finish. There are so many kinds of Pisces. Strange statement? Yes, because Pisceans are the most malleable of the twelve signs. They possess a gentle, patient nature, but one that is in want of direction. They can be impressed by and completely absorbed into their environment. They are in need of a container which will shape them, guide them.
Pisces adapts to their surroundings, good or bad. They are generous, friendly, good natured people with a true sense of kindness and compassion. They are sensitive to everything around them including the feelings of others. They are popular folk because of their easygoing and likable manner, which tends to mirror people they are with. They have an uncanny sense of perceiving what a person is in need of, and delivering it. They are not initiators, but rather allow circumstances and events to motivate them, and then they respond.

Pisceans do best in an environment where they can exercise their imaginations and intuitive nature. They are gifted artistically. They are versatile and tend to understand things by absorption rather than logic. They are receptive to new ideas and circumstances. They possess wonderful creativity which is demonstrated in music, literature, drama and art. They have an acute instinct for, and love of beauty in nature as well as the arts. They appreciate luxury and pleasure, and are ripe for new sensations. When they travel, they prefer remote, exotic places.

The constellation of Pisces appears as a fish swimming in the waters that pour from Aquarius. In Babylonian times, this star formation was associated with the gods Oannes and Dagon. These were water deities in the form of fish. Also in this constellation is the Leash– upon which were tied the two fish goddesses, Anunitum and Simmah. In Islamic astronomy, this area of the sky was known as The Large Fish

In Greek mythology, Pisces is associated with the great beast Typhon. This fearsome creature belonged to the earlier age of the Titans, and was a terrifying force even for the greatest of the gods. At one time Typhon attacked Mount Olympus, abode of the gods. To escape from his wrath, each deity took the form of an animal. Zeus himself, shifted into the likeness of a ram. Aphrodite, and her son Eros, escaped the beast by transforming into a pair of fish and swimming away into the Euphrates River. The goddess Minerva placed the image of the fishes in the heavens so that the event would not be forgotten.

Walking the distance

All truly great thoughts are conceived by walking.
- Friedrich Nietzsche

If you look for the truth outside yourself,
it gets farther and farther away.
Today walking alone, I meet it everywhere I step.
It is the same as me, yet I am not it.
Only if you understand it in this way will you merge
with the way things are.
- Tung-Shan

Walking takes longer... than any other known form of locomotion except crawling. Thus it stretches time and prolongs life. Life is already too short to waste on speed. ~Edward Abbey

Don't let people drive you crazy when you know it's in walking distance. ~Author Unknown

A cure for your winter blahs

Hi ya folks,

Djangy Spangy here with a reminder to everyone that although it is February and the blah, blah, blahs can get you down, remember that life is all about finding creative ways to stay one step ahead of things. Take for instance my desire to be tall and reach new heights. When faced with an obstacle ( in this case, my inflatable fun-tube) instead of crying and having a fit, I simply stepped up and 'rose' to the challenge.

So when your feeling low just check this pic of me, smiling like the happy, golden pisces fish that I am...

So the moral of this fish tale is to keep smiling and remember that the vernal equinox is just 4 weeks away!

Snow Prince

Hello again,

Here are a few 'cool' shots of me playing in the snow after the big set of winter storms we have had in Toronto.

Baby, it's cold outside!

New Updates

Hey everyone,

Greetings from Frankelsell central. As you can well imagine, life is good and I'm growing like a weed, getting surprisingly slimmer and learning new moves everyday. My latest developments include joyful expressions of clapping, waving and high-fives. I also can feed my mom and my appetite for food rivals Dad's. The fruit doesn't fall far from the tree where hollow legs are concerned. I also tend to go down for naps and bedtime with less fuss and I pay really good attention during story time.

The excitement is also building for my upcoming birthday on Feb 28th. The plan on the actual day is to honour an old Cowall (Nana's side) family ritual. Mom will bake me my own little cake (with not too much sugar) and I'll strip down to my diaper and eat the entire thing while making a complete mess and flapping my arms around. It should be pretty awesome.

We are also planning a party the following weekend and all my little friends and their Moms/Dads as well as various family members will be in attendance. What fun!

For those of you that can't be with us to celebrate, we'll photograph and possibly take some video of all the various birthday events and post it here on the blog in March. Speaking of posts, I have failed to live up to my promise from nearly a month ago to put up some pics from my trip to England/Isreal. Truth is, the files got misplaced. So bare with me. Once this birthday stuff is over, Dad and I are planning a series of postings to highlight my fave moments and memories from the first year of my life. Stay tuned.

I hope your having a great day where you are.

Love Jonah :)

Dinner with Grandpa Ken and Diane

Hey everybody,

Well this Saturday past, we had a surprise visit from my Grandpa Ken and his partner Diane. We had a lovely time, hanging out, eating dinner and catching up. The first few times I met Ken, I wasn't sure where I recognized him from. But on this vist, it suddenly made sense to me, he's my Dad's Dad. So now that I've figured it out, I'm really happy to be getting to know him and look forward to more visits with them both.

At one point, Diane was nice enough to read some books with me.

She had such a nice, soothing voice and I sat like a good boy and followed along.

I also really bonded with Grandpa and he was great to play with.

As always, it's great to visit with family. We had a ball!

The fight for Sophie

As some of you kids out there know by now, there is this wonderful, soothing toy from France called Sophie Giraffe. The other day, my buddy Zain dropped by for a play date and we ended up having a little tug of war with MY Sophie. Here are the pictures to prove it.

Zain: "Can I have a look, please?"
Jonah: "Not now Zain, can't you see I'm busy?"

Zain: "Jonah, come on. You've had Sophie for a long time now."
Jonah: "Can't you look with your eyes and not your hands?"

Zain: "It looks just like mine and I'm not letting go!"
Jonah: "It's my toy, my house, my Sophie and I'm not letting go!"

In the end we both left Sophie behind. Toys made of natural rubber are so overrated!

Curly Top

We love you and miss you all very much. You are an inspiration to us all. You folks rock!
