Hello friends and family,
As promised Mom and Dad sat down and wrote up a list of all my recent developments to chart my progress as I approach my 19th month on the planet. So to keep in the spirit of the blog, they have given me the task of writing the post for you.
Daycare
I've been going to a home daycare run by a woman named Kiki for several months now. What started off as a difficult process has become a welcomed outlet for my ever growing social skills. These days when Dad pulls up on his bike to drop me off, not only am I in a rush to get my helmet off but I also run straight for Kiki's door. Sometimes, I even forget to say goodbye and give Dad a hug.
Food and Eating
Most of you know that I have an incredible appetite, typical of both my parents. Lately, if given the chance, I'll feed myself with a spoon (using my left hand no less) while in the highchair. I'm also really starting to enjoy finger foods and eating whole apples. I now take bigger pieces of meat and veggies along with my daily serving of Quiona! I have also developed this weird fascination with disposable coffee cups. We try to find me the eco-conscious ones but I just can't help myself to them.
Chores and helping out
This may sound weird but I love cleaning up and making a mess. If asked, I'll fetch shoes, throw banana peels in the compost, close doors and cupboards, sweep the floor and most importantly, feed Sadie cat her kibble.
I also enjoy reading both as listener and storyteller. I'll happily read to you my own unique 'gibberish' versions of some of my favorite books.
This may not count as a chore but I really enjoy brushing my teeth. When the time comes I run into the bathroom, pull up my stool and with some help, grab the brush and start cleaning. This is a huge improvement considering how difficult it was in the beginning. I may not have the technique down yet but the fact that I eagerly participate is the main thing.
Movement and Modes of Transport
I'm mad about stairs and insist that I have my hand on the railing when going up and down our steep staircase. At the park, I also prefer the age 5-12 play area and frequently go up the stairs or climb the walls to the bigger slides. I also love to walk and naturally prefer to go where I am not supposed to go. But with some guidance, I'm really good at staying on the pavement or sidewalk. I also have a cool wagon and now that it is fixed, prefer it much more to the stroller.
You all know by now that I'm walking but you can now add running to the list along with climbing all over EVERYTHING. It ends up that I crash and fall into stuff more often but that is half the fun.
So that is all for my updates. I probably won't be able to post for a few weeks as
September is a very busy month for our family. Not only are Mom and Dad going on a trip to Montreal and I'll be staying with Nana, there is Ryan and Rachael's wedding coming up as well.
We are also very excited to welcome my Savta and Sabba (Ruth and Harry) who are coming all the way from England to see us over the next few weeks. We can't wait to see them.
So I'll make sure that my staff post updates and more photo's towards the end of the month to chronicle all the fun. Take Care everyone, I'm going to go have a nap now.
Love Djangy :)
