Updates

Good News ladies and germs,

My birthday video is suddenly working on the blog now. This is a great development and means that I can stream more content. Scroll down to the older posts at the bottom of this page and look for the (March 4th) post and you will find a short little video from my party.

In other news, as you may have heard, the family and I are trying to move house. So far we have not had good luck but Mom is working hard to find us something ideal. We almost rented a house on Salmon this past weekend but discovered after return visits that we wouldn't be the only tenants living there. The owner finally admitted that there were in fact cockroaches in the basement. " Just a few here and there", she said. Yeah right! So we are naturally going to keep looking ;)

Also, I'm weeks, maybe days away from officially walking. I know I've mentioned it before but last week I actually took a few steps on my own without help and I cruise really fast now. Mom routinely takes me to the park to practice struttin' with my plastic walker so look out people, Djangy is on the move again!

Finally, Mom has got a brand new part-time job, which is great news and we are looking to get me enrolled in daycare three days a week with a private care giver. It's a bit crazy making, what with the lack of quality service in our 'hood and the anxiety of all of us 'letting go' but it should work out for the best. I'll keep you all updated as we move ahead.

Ok, I should go and have a nap. Take care and stay warm!

Spring is in the air

Hey folks,

I am so glad that Spring is finally in full bloom and now is the time to emerge from our collective hibernation and get out in the fresh-(ish) air.

Last week I told you all about my new bike seat. I am absolutely loving the freedom and action of zooming around town with Mama. Now whenever the word 'bike' is spoken aloud, I go into a frenzy of excitement.

Here is a shot of me with my new helmet. I promise to post some pics of me in the seat when we go to Toronto Island for a family picnic this weekend.

As previously mentioned, I am well into the walking phase of my life right now. Day by day and step by step I am getting more confident on my own two feet. Despite having mastered the use of my 'walker' (which I can turn and steer back and forth around the living room chasing Sadie) I am still a bit clumsy when taking steps. But with a little more time and encouragement, I should be walking alone in the next month or so.

The other week the family and I went over to the Riverdale Farm. It was a bright sunny day and we saw chickens, turkey, sheep, goats and horses. Although I was rather tired, it was great fun to see real live animals up close. Here is Mama and I with a Mama horse and her foul.

Here is one final shot of Dad and I mugging for the camera :)

Have a great rest of your week and a terrific weekend. Don't forget to get outside!!

Love JD

Finding my voice...

Hi friends,

I know, I know, I've been rather delinquent lately and not posted much on the blog. Truth is, Dad has been run off his feet at work and well I'm just busy running on my feet. That's not to say that I'm walking and running on my own now but over the last two weeks, I've been taking huge strides in the striding department( yuck yuck)and keeping Mom and Dad busy!

With Spring in the air, I'm also getting the chance to go for walks with Mom to test my wobbly legs. Being the eldest of my crew, most of my friends are having their birthdays now so I've been quite the social butterfly. We also just bought a bike seat for me and Mom and we went for our first official bike ride today. Yee haw! More pics to follow as we plan a weekend cycle with the whole family.

I'm also getting more talkative and expressive with my face and hands. If you lived above us, you might think I was the whiniest baby on the block but the truth is that I'm just finding my voice. I'm also really starting to touch and explore moving, placing and picking up things. As Nana puts it, my fine motor skills and movements are working but the control, speed and intensity of these movements is not. A good example is when I try to eat grapes. Some end up in my mouth, some as floor-wine.

I'm also really into Doors. Not the band silly but the wooden things that you open and close between rooms. Dad had fun with this picture using our comic making software.

And finally here is a shot of me at a friends house riding a mutant plastic caterpillar toy. What fun!

Well that is all. Oh, I should mention about my travel pics. We had planned to post them last week but there was a computer malfunction at Dad's work and then a virus on his USB key. Be patient folks or maybe we should just forget it.

See you all soon

Love always
JD :)
