Splish Splash

Hello again,

Here is a great photo essay showing the three staged process of getting me to relax.

Lately, I have to admit I have been a bit out of sorts. Some call it 'Colic' and others say it's just normal in the first six weeks to be fussy and sleep deprived. Apparently, this whole sleep concept is a learned behaviour (And I am definitely still learning) Yesterday, Emily came by to help out around the house and she was great! We had lots of fun hanging out, grocery shopping and in the end, after my lovely bath and swaddle, I finally drifted off to sleep in my Bassinet.

We are also preparing for the arrival of Savta tomorrow. I am so excited to finally meet her. I also finally got to meet Sarita when Auntie Brenda and Uncle Marty came to visit the other day. It was so nice to spend time with you all and thanks for the apple crisp!

Well I should get going. Stay tuned for pics of me and my Savta Ruth.
Happy Spring everybody!

3 Weeks Old

Book 'Em

Hello Everyone,

Sorry I've been away for awhile. Things are quite hectic but at the same time really good. For one, I'm three weeks old, nursing like a pro and sleeping up to five hours in the night. Mom and Dad are happier now and more rested. Since I like to go outside in my stroller so much, Mom and I can go out anytime we want and pick up groceries or even go for a 'sugering' apt. I also recently got a new ID, my second in fact. It's a library card and I can't wait to start taking out books. Speaking of fine literature, I want to thank my Uncle Lee and Aunt Jen for sending me Maurice Sendak's "Where the Wild Things Are" - classic stuff, awesome!

Shout out's also to Uncle Darren and Aunt Miriam for the fab sleepers and little poem, Darren did you right that? I'm going to share it:

Little Jonah Django is a funky dude
He has the bestest name in town
he wears a kitted hat
and likes the sound of jazz

Little Jonah django
loves his mum and dad
He's going travelling in the summer
to meet his many fans

Father and Child Reunion

Hi everyone,

Here is a pic of Dad and I from this morning. Apparently, we slept in till 10:00 am. Mom was in shock to say the least.
Every day we are making progress on all fronts. The fact that I'm sleeping at all is a miracle in itself.

Jonah :)

Finally, new pictures !

They call me mellow yellow

Hello everyone,

The blogger program that I use has officially posted on their site today that there is a problem with the upload of pictures to blogs. No kidding. The site is owned by Google and they're like ba-zillionaire's and yet they can't seem to get it fixed. It's been three days for Pete's sake.

So I'll just have to update you in words for now and hope the problem gets resolved.

The last few days have been great for me because Mom's milk is always there when I wail for it, my Dad is off at work so I have her to myself and I now get taken out for walks in my Valco stroller, the 'qual val'. I'm starting to sleep more at night and even during the day. When I'm fussy, my folks sing to me and when I wiggle and poop, they clean me up and take the smelly stuff away. I could really get used to this lifestyle.

Also, today I got my health card. It's so cool to see my name on an official government ID. Now I can go and wait in line at my local hospital. Well thats it. I hope to be posting pictures tomorrow.

See you soon

Enough still...

Hello,

I went on blogger again this morning and it is still not letting me post pictures. I have no idea why and I'm really starting to get upset and annoyed. Darn that technology!

WE ARE CURRENTLY HAVING TECHNICAL PROBLEMS

Hello people,

For some reason this blogger program is not allowing me to upload photo's today which is a shame cause I've got some great pics to share. So hang on tight and I'll try to resolve the issue ASAP.

In the meantime, good news on the feeding front. The milk is here to stay and as of today, I weigh a whopping 8 pounds, 6 ounces. Talk about the year of the pig.

So some of you concerned readers will be pleased to hear that I am know longer relying on formula to get through my day. I even recently joined a support group for new babes, Formula Anonymous, to help me cope. It really was the 'wake up top up' that was raising the red flags. Thank you everyone for supporting me in this difficult time :)

More Milk, uh huh, uh huh

Hi again,

Here is how I like to spend my Saturday nights, chilling out, maxing and relaxing on my fave blanket and tummy.
The first shot is entitled, "The Thinker" and the other is "Milk Stoned" You know that old add, 'this is your brain ...this is your brain on milk' hee hee.

One thing I forgot to mention in my reflections on my first week, was about the crazy amount of laundry I am producing. Apparently, nobody mentioned this little factiod to my parents. To make matters worse, the washing machine downstairs is about 30yrs old. Donations for a front loader are now being accepted. But I love the arty shot of my sleepers. Very Diane Arbus.

Later,

Jonah

Feedings, nothing more than feedings...

Hi everyone,

Here are some nice B+W pictures of Nigiuq and I taken on Friday. It was lovely to spend some quality time with her. Mom and Dad were able to go out and run some errands while we sat back on the rocking chair, bonding and cuddling while watching Oprah.

Great news on the feeding front. Mom has started to really reduce the formula and her milk is coming in nicely. Only in the 'witching hour' does she use it to 'top me up'. To clear up a quick misconception, Auntie Miriam and Uncle Darren were under the impression that I was eating NESTLE products. That is not the case. Dad just relayed to me that they make baby formula and couldn't believe it. I've been using EMFAMIL, which is probably made by some evil corporation too :)

Oh yeah I almost forgot. The visit to the breastfeeding clinic was great because they were able to weigh me before and after the feeds and I'm definitely getting bigger. I was so excited when they weighed me for the last time that I peed on the scale! It was nice to get outside and Dad had me in the Trekker. I slept the whole way there and back.

Well that is all for now. We have some more pics to load so expect two entries for today.

One big happy family

Hi lovely people,

Finally, the moment we have all been waiting for -a proper picture of the whole family. I had to go behind my Dad's back to post it mind you, as he is not at all happy with any recent photos taken of him. The other with Mom and I is new as of today. Ninijuk was visiting just this afternoon and took these pictures for us. I'll post a nice arty B+W photo from our visit tomorrow.

In other news, I'm finally starting to put on weight and we are beginning to cut back on my formula feeds. It's a bit of an adjustment eating less but if we keep it up, pretty soon I'll be able to fit into all my clothes. Tomorrow, all of us are going to venture outside and take a trip to the breast feeding clinic. Mom and I have certainly come along way with the whole feeding thing but it's nice to get some professional advice and assistance.

Well that is it for now. Take care everyone and I promise to post again tomorrow.

Momma said there'd be days like this

Hey Everyone,

My apologies for taking a day or so off from blogging but as you can see I've been rather busy. My hectic schedule includes eating and nursing ( I even gained my birth weight back) learning to sleep in my bassinet and pooping like a grown up.

Also it just dawned on me that I'm almost a week old. My how time flies when your having fun.

So let's get to the pics. These are all from the last couple of days. The first one is of me and my Dad, who apologizes for looking so tired; next is a great shot of Sadie and I discussing the benefits of napping; next is my best impression of WC Fields (forever); next is me learning my first hand sign and finally, the last shot is a demonstration of Sadie's tried and true 'face first' napping technique.

I'd like to take a moment to thank my Aunite Jules, Uncle Paul and Cousin Joe for the wonderful plush dog toy. I also want to thank Nancy (Uncle Marty's Mom) for the lovely blanket that has been helping to keep me so warm and toasty. Finally another shout out goes to my Auntie R and her boys-the clothing you sent is the only stuff that seems to fit me!

Well, I should go now, 'House' is on the telly.

Chow for now,

Jonah

Q + A

Hello,
I've recently been asked some questions by my Auntie Robin (shout out to my Barrie peeps) and thought I'd use that as a discussion point for todays entry.

Q: Have you had a bath yet?
A: No, but apparently I will be having one today. Can't say I'm excited by the prospect of being wet and naked. I had enough of that in the womb

Q: Have you been outside?
A: No, because Mom is still on the mend and Dad is exhausted. Plus it's too bright and too cold. Hopefully this week.

Q: What do you make of Sadie? What does she make of you?
A: I like her just fine but she is normally sleeping under the couch. She seems to be very open to my presence and doesn't run away when I wail. Surprising, considering I stole her thunder as cutest thing in the house. Last night in the midst of one of my feeds, she stared at me and started purring. It was so sweet.

Q: Where do you sleep?
A: Sleep, what's that? No really, I'm not a fan of my bassinet at all and prefer to sleep under Mom's boob. I have this awesome chair which is nice to nap in but I'm not ready to sleep on my own yet. I tend to sleep after my feedings on the couch with Mom. I have slept a few times with Mom and Dad in their bed but it's not my fave spot either.

Q:Have you had visitors?
A: Yes, my Niniyuk Emily and Grandfather Terry dropped by on my birthday. Auntie Donna and Uncle Craig came by the other day and dropped off my brand new car seat. Apparently I'm getting more visitors this week. Yahoo!

Q: Has your umbilical cord thing fallen off yet?
A: No, but Dad got me these special diapers that fit snug just under my b button so that it doesn't rub up against it.

Well that was fun. Keep those questions coming and enjoy these pics from the past few days. Daddy promises he'll get in one of the photos soon but claims he is having a series of bad hair days.

New Feet - New Hat

Hi again,

As you all know, these past few days have been a series of first time experiences for me...so I thought I'd share with you some first time pics. Those are my new feet and this is me in a new knitted hat that my Mom made. If asked, I will deny having any resemblance to a hobbit or garden gnome.

Later,

Jonah

Flower Power

Sleep is the new awake

Hello friends,

Well it has certainly been a busy couple of days. I want to take a moment to thank my Uncle Craig and Aunt Donna for the gift of the car seat. It is the safest one I have ever seen. I can't wait for Daddy to take me for a spin. I also want to thank my lovely Savta and Sabba for the gorgeous floral arrangement that showed up yesterday. Daddy says he'll take a picture of it later.

I'm finally getting a handle on this nursing thing but I am really hungry and want my milk! Mommy is doing great and I hear she is starting to nap more. Good job. Well I'm getting sleepy again, so I should go. Thanks for all your lovely comments about my blog. I'm glad your enjoying it as much as I am.

Lots of love,

Jonah

Me and my Nigiuq

Hey everybody,

Check out these photos of me with Emily, the emster, G-mom superior, Dad's Mom, my Nigiuq (nee-gee-yuk)

Speaking of grandmothers, I can't wait to meet Ruth, Mom's Mom, my Savta.
She's coming all the way from London to visit me in March. Hooray !

The last picture is from this morning. I think I'm starting to relax a little more so that Mom and Dad can have some respite. The chair I'm sitting in is called a BABY PAPSAN and was given to me by the Devitt's (thanks). It vibrates and plays music, it's so cool and I would definitely recommend it to all you little folks out there.

Boy oh boy, last night was arduous, the gnashing and wailing, the hunger, who knew that a night could be so long. Are we all just waiting for the milk to come?

My Mom and I

Hi again everyone,

This wouldn't be a proper blog without a pic of my Mom Lucy. This was taken at around 6pm yesterday or as we call it around these parts, Jonah Day, Feb 28th. Hugs and kisses go out to my Auntie Jen from BC, who was also born on this day. Happy 27th Birthday Jen.

Speaking of birth, what an exhausting experience. All I remember was this funny sound and then a whoosh. Props and much love go out to my amazing parents for managing our 8hr labour, what a rush! You were both awesome. And those lovely mid-wives didn't do too badly either.

Love to all of you,
Jonah

Hey everybody, it's me Sprout!

Hi everybody! It's me- the artist formally know as Sprout aka Jonah Django. Please don't confuse me with that guy who got eaten by a whale. My Dad says that he first heard the name in a song by a band named Weezer. The middle name was inspired by the famous jazz guitarist, Django Reinhart. You should check out his music.

I was born on February 28th, 2007 at 12:27 PM on a perfect sunny day. I'm my Mom and Dad's pride and joy, weighing in at 7 pounds, 13 ounces, not bad for a baby that was supposed to be almost two weeks over due, hah! As I've always said, you can't trust technology these days. Speaking of which, what do you think of my blog so far? My Dad says he'll post my pics here as much as possible and write funny things on my behalf.

So, this first pic is of me at the lovely Toronto East General Hospital just minutes out of the hotel Momma Mia. Gosh it was so nice there, I didn't feel like coming out but then apparently my Dad had this big thing due at work so I decided to give him the rest of the week off, ha ha ha.

The other pic is of me in the car seat (thanks to the lovely Faraghers) waiting to go home. Apparently I was so tired, I slept for the entire 5 min cab ride.

Ok everybody see you real soon!
